FutureTech Newsletter: Exciting Events and Inspiring Moments in 2023!

Updated: Sep 11, 2023

Greetings, FutureTech Community!

The year 2023 has been nothing short of extraordinary for us so far, filled with memorable Sydney events, incredible achievements, and heartwarming connections. Let's dive into some of the highlights!

1. Social Enterprise Festival: Celebrating a Shared Vision

In May, our CEO and founder, Rebecca McCash, had the honor of representing FutureTech at the inaugural Social Enterprise Festival. Rebecca described the atmosphere as 'nothing short of inspiring, warm, and fulfilling'.

The festival brought together a remarkable gathering of brilliant individuals all working towards making the world a better place. Rebecca couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and gratitude, experiencing that "pinch me, I'm dreaming" feeling. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the organizers for curating such an incredible event and to all the amazing organizations and 1000+ attendees who showed their support for small businesses. A special thanks goes to Rory, who generously gave up his Saturday to support Bec, and, of course, to our dedicated founder and CEO who tirelessly supports participants and mentors alike.

2. Sydney Group 1: Exploring the Realm of "Intelligence"

We were thrilled to kick off this term with the theme of "Intelligence" for our Sydney group! This captivating theme has taken us on an extraordinary journey through the realms of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). Igniting curiosity, expanding knowledge, and unlocking the power of intelligence! 💡🌈

"I love seeing participants get lost in a topic and become inspired." – Jack Systems & Tech Lead

3. Online Group: Climate Action and Conservation in Focus

Climate action and conservation have come alive with FutureTech's online group! In Terms 1 and 2, our dedicated online students have been actively involved in a range of meaningful projects. They have created posters advocating for environmental awareness, explored the mechanics of turbines, built bird feeders to support local wildlife, and even constructed biodomes to observe and understand the delicate ecosystems around us. Moreover, we are proud to announce that our talented participants successfully completed a collaborative coding challenge, earning them a well-deserved certificate of completion! 🏆

4. Second Sydney Group Launch: Delving into the World of Forensics

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our second FutureTech group in Sydney! This exciting addition comes in response to overwhelming demand from all you brilliant minds out there. The new group has been delving into the captivating world of "Forensics." So far, our participants have been sharpening their investigative skills, analyzing evidence, and unravelling the secrets of forensic science! 🕵️‍♂️🔬🔍

5. Autistic Pride Day 2023: Celebrating Neurodiversity

On Autistic Pride Day, our CEO, Rebecca, was invited as a speaker to Australia's first Autistic Pride Day event, hosted by Just Gold. This invitation held particular significance as it marked the one-year anniversary of Rebecca's own diagnosis as an AuADHD sparkle brain. It was an absolute honor and privilege for her to be part of this momentous occasion. Rebecca had the opportunity to meet some of her personal heroes from the industry for the very first time, creating memorable connections and celebrating the power of neurodiversity. ✨️

6. The Orbispace Future of Female Leadership Forum: Inspiring the Next Generation

FutureTech had the distinct privilege of participating in the recent The Orbispace Future of Female Leadership Forum. Rebecca, despite her initial uncertainty about her role in front of a crowd of 14-year-old girls interested in pursuing STEM, was deeply moved by the experience. A young autistic girl approached her directly, expressing how cool it was to meet someone like Rebecca—an AuADHD gal—running a successful social enterprise. The encounter was filled with happy stims and tears of joy, reaffirming Rebecca's purpose and the impact of her presence in such events. 💖

It's been wild!

These recent events have further fueled our passion and dedication to supporting our young people to find theirs. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported and cheered us on throughout this incredible journey.

Stay tuned for more updates and exciting ventures on the horizon!

With gratitude,

The FutureTech Team ✨️
